Our client is currently seeking a Loss Prevention Advisor - Cargo for a full time permanent position.

As the successful candidate you will bring a thorough understanding of the full cargo lifecycle, from origin to discharge, and the ability to deliver actionable loss prevention strategies to shipowners, charterers, freight forwarders, and cargo interests worldwide.
This position is available 100% Remote Globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement cargo theft prevention strategies for clients across high-risk trade lanes, ports, and inland transport corridors globally
- Conduct threat assessments for specific cargo types and routes including containerised high-value goods, Ro-Ro vehicles, and bulk commodities
- Advise Kclient on physical security measures, container integrity checks, seal management protocols, and surveillance technologies to reduce pilferage exposure
- Monitor and report on global cargo theft intelligence, hotspot trends, and emerging criminal methodologies affecting maritime and intermodal supply chains
- Advise on proper cargo handling, stowage, lashing, and securing practices to minimise damage exposure during loading, transit, and discharge operations
- Identify and investigate supply chain fraud including misdeclaration of cargo, fraudulent bills of lading, switch bills, and cargo substitution schemes
- Support clients in implementing robust KYC and cargo verification technology & procedures
- Act as a primary point of contact between client and their P&I, cargo underwriters, and marine insurers on loss prevention matters and cargo claims
- Provide guidance to clients on cargo insurance coverage adequacy, exclusions, and the implications of Incoterms on insurable interest and liability
- Conduct comprehensive cargo loss prevention audits producing prioritised risk registers and remediation roadmaps
- Develop and deliver tailored loss prevention training programmes for client operations teams, crews, and logistics staff
Required skills:
- 5+ years in maritime loss prevention, marine cargo claims, P&I, or marine surveying roles
- Strong working knowledge of cargo types, handling practices, and loss exposures across containerised, bulk, reefer, and liquid cargo
- Thorough understanding of marine insurance principles, cargo policy structures, and P&I club operations
- Experience with cargo tracking technologies including IoT sensors, container monitoring, GPS tracking, and telematics platforms
- Familiarity with key international conventions and frameworks: Hague-Visby Rules, Hamburg Rules, SOLAS, IMDG Code, Incoterms 2020, etc.
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions and understanding of international trade lane risks and regional cargo theft hotspots
Nice-to-have skills:
- Relevant certificiations including CMLI, IACII, SAMS/NMS, etc.
- Existing relationships with Canadian P&I correspondents, marine insurers, or Transport Canada cargo inspectors
- Knowledge of APAC, Latin American, or West African trade lanes
- Understanding of high-value cargo categories with specific loss profiles (pharmaceutical, electronics, luxury goods, etc.)
